Firm Overview

As a third generation architectural, interior design, and planning firm, we continue to build on our award-winning reputation for innovative multidisciplinary design. Principals Marc J. Landow, Robin Landow, and Glen J. Landow now lead the company as we embark on our 100th Anniversary.

Throughout our history, our unwavering mission has been to provide the highest level of design and creativity, with an equally high level of principal involvement and personal service, in all of our projects regardless of their size. We always begin by listening in order to understand and appreciate our clients’ visions, priorities, needs, and budgets. We work on a broad range of projects nationwide. Our expertise and vast project experience has traditionally fallen within the Healthcare, Education, Community, Corporate Interiors, Retail, Commercial, and Luxury Residential markets.

1st Generation

Abraham Landow received his degree in architecture from The Cooper Union in 1922. Upon graduating, he found the major architectural firms too busy to train new entrants in the profession. He was fortunate in finding a mentor, and within a year’s time had opened his own firm, specializing in residential work. By 1926, he had already completed several six-story apartment houses in Brooklyn, and went on to develop a successful practice which included multi-family residential work, institutional buildings, and townhouses. He maintained his office first in Brooklyn, and then moved to Manhattan. In 1947, he relocated to Long Island where he expanded the practice to include commercial and industrial buildings.

2nd Generation

Lloyd J. Landow received his Architectural Degree from the Graduate School of Architecture of the University of Pennsylvania in 1961. He then joined his father in practice and in 1965, the firm became known as Landow and Landow Architects. Under his leadership, the firm grew in size and took on larger scale projects of increasing complexity. The firm’s breadth of work began to include multi-million dollar healthcare, commercial, and community buildings. Recognized for his unique ability to solve highly difficult planning challenges, he received numerous local and national honors for his work. As an expert in the field of healthcare architecture, he was appointed Chairman of the Nursing Home Sub-Committee of the New York State Department of Health’s Construction Standards Advisory Group (CSAG) and as a member of its Steering Committee, and ultimately to the prestigious National Hospital and Healthcare Facilities Guidelines Committee.

3rd Generation

After receiving their architectural degrees in the 1990’s, Marc J. Landow, Robin Landow, and Glen J. Landow joined their father in the practice. With the diverse interests of the three now partners, the firm’s work expanded in both existing and new markets including education, luxury residential, and retail projects. At the same time, the size and complexity of the firm’s work also continues to grow.
