Slifka Center For Jewish Life At Yale University

We designed a major renovation and addition for the Slifka Center for Jewish Life at Yale University, a 19,000 square foot, four story building on the campus in New Haven, Connecticut which had been built in the late 1990’s. After working with their leadership, staff, and students to envision how the building should support Slifka’s mission today, we developed the redesign to reinforce their outreach to the campus community. Faced with zoning constraints that limited new construction outside the existing envelop, we reimagined the interior layout by adding square footage where opportunities existed, and included a complete renovation and expansion of their exterior terrace as well. The resulting design provides new opportunities for flexible programming, maximizes settings for informal socialization, incorporates new technologies, and prioritizes the complete remodel and modernization of their kitchens and dining hall.
