SUNY Maritime College William Austen Marine Education and Seamanship Center
This is a new 2 1/2 story academic building we designed for SUNY Maritime College located at the entrance to their East River pier on their campus in the Bronx, New York. The first Mass Timber structure in the entire SUNY system, the sustainable, all-electric building contains a state-of-the-art wet science laboratory on the first floor, taking advantage of the proximity to the adjacent river to house a flow through tank system allowing water to be collected through piping for real time experimentation. The second floor contains classroom space for the College’s Marine Transportation department.
